Learning new things everyday.

No, I did not experience writers block.

I just lost the feel to write ever since my Acer computer monitor blew up during a thunderstorm. The excuse was, I am not able to upload pictures from my Blackberry. Then I discovered I can download the Blackberry device manage into my note book. Did that but it kept promting,...you need to change screen resolution....shit! now what am I supposed to do? So I gave up.

Meantime, I went around to check out for a 2nd hand computer monitor. A 19" Acer cost RM260 a piece whereas a brand new Samsung monitor is RM290. Tesco Extra selling the latest model Acer monitor for RM326, and it is the cheapest among its range.

Going to IOI or Law Yat was totally out of the picture. Too far and I will go crazy with the choices available. I also asked around colleagues at work if any of them willing to sell a 2nd hand monitor, I don't care, at this rate any brand would do. A few showed their interest but after a day or two,...quiet and no news.  Finally Chander said he has a friend who owns a computer shop in Port Dickson.  It was easy dealing with him. I told him if I can get a new Acer monitor within my budget of RM230, go ahead and buy. So that's what he did. Though it exceeded RM29 from my initial budget, I went for the latest 18.5' model from Acer and with 3 years warranty!

The monitor was delivered to my door and like a child, I was excited with my new toy. Opened up the box and assembled the computer stand. Hooked it to the CPU, plug it to the extension cord and taa, daa....it sits perfectly. Not functioning yet though. Need to wait for my IT expert (hubby) to set up the software..... heheheh....The monitor was covered with a white plastic and some instructions,...and that was when I discovered that screen resolution can be changed in the control panel! Ghezzzz.

So tonight I changed the screen resolution on my note book and I'm back writing. Now I not only can upload pictures from my Blackberry into the Acer PC, I too can also do it into my note book.

Rayban

It was recently that my hubby told me he found my old Ray Ban sunglasses stashed somewhere in a box up in the attic. He asked whether I wanna sell it off. And I replied, No, sayang la.....It brought about fond memories...hehehehe......

My American made Ray Ban was purchased just days before I flew off to the States. The cash money I got from my dad which was in US dollars, I exchanged it to RM for the sake of a pair of Rayban.I dashed to a supermarket in Klang town and without hesitant paid for my ever first Ray Ban. I am not so sure what's the big deal of owning one but today,....I understand why. Some of the American made pieces are now a collector's item.

Ray-Ban is an American brand of sunglasses founded in 1937 by Bausch & Lomb. They were introduced for the US Army Air Force. I am just assuming that these sunglasses were a huge hit in the market ever since the movie Top Gun played in the cinema. You have the top actors such as Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, Kelly McGillis and Tom Skerritt all in Ray Ban shades. Nowadays you are only able to buy Italian made Ray Ban because sometime in 1999, Bausch & Lomb sold the brand to the Italian Luxottica Group.

In 1990 my pair of Ray Ban cost RM215 and I was told the value of this model today is estimated between RM700-900. Wow!

Good Bye 2012, Hello 2013.

Last night I was flipping channels and came acrossed a movie called New Year's Eve.  The following speech by Hillary Swank, described how exactly I felt about this new year. It was well said,
" Stop and reflect on the year that has gone by. Remember both our triumphs and our missteps, our promises made and broken. The times we opened ourselves up to great adventures or closed ourselves down for fear of getting hurt coz that is what new years is all about- getting another chance. A chance to forgive, to do better, to do more, to give more, to love more. And stop worrying about what if and start embracing what would be." - speech from New Year's Eve movie.
Happy new year and may God bless all of us. Insya Allah. New Year resolution? None specific but if I could lose a few pounds,....it will be a bonus! Have a good 2013 ahead.
