Doctor Zulkifli

I recalled conversation I had months ago with a doctor at my local clinic.

One Saturday morning, I woke up and noticed that my upper neck was swollen. I kept on interpreting the reason behind why it happened. So many things went through my mind and the first I thought off was a growth. OMG could it be cancerous?

I decided not to delay and paid Doctor Zulkifli of Klinik Hafiz a visit.

Doctor Zul, is a tall, heavy built dark gentleman. First impression, Shrek,..opsss but instead I find him to be kindhearted, understanding and gentle. Soon as I arrived, I was his first patient for the morning. He greeted me and I was called to his consultation room. I explained my conditions and he checked. He said there was nothing to worry and it was not a growth. I was a bit relief ....I mean coming from a doctor....then I should be alright. Right? It was my saliva glands that were swollen.

He prescibed antibiotics and wrote down his report in my chart booklet. By the way, he has the most beautiful hand writting, yup round and cursive, hmmmm must be a very neat person....

Anyway, I explained to him I have been a smoker for more than 20 years and I was afraid that I found cancer today. He laughed and said he too, a smoker. I am a doctor you know. Many instances when someone stopped smoking, he/she will get a different kind of shock. Our body may not able to take the change. Cancer or not. If our time comes, it will come. Then I added I am trying to reduce my daily cigarette in take. He laughed again and encouraged me to do that but caution me to take it slow.

We chit chatted for a while, paid for my medicines and left.

So how am I doing with my effort to stop smoking, today? At the scale 1 to 10, I give myself a 7. Nobody said it was a piece of cake.

That's the way love goes...

Alhamdulillah! I am turning 45 tomorrow. Thank you for the opportunity given by God to appreciate life this far.

In no specific order,...

I wish to thank my children who are my pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. My rain, my sunshine, my deepest ocean, my highest sky and always my babies. Having you both was a miracle gift from God. Love you two monsters.

To my husband whom I've known for 23 years(and been married 15), thank you. You complete me. An honor for me to have your children. You taught me to survive in the real world.

To the people I've met along the way from my school, work and married years, thank you for the best time of my life. It was a pleasure knowing all of you!

To my late mom, I will always remember you as you were in 1977.Young. And never grow old.

To my late dad, wow,...without him, I would not made it through life. You were my pillar of strength in all aspects. You were my saviour countless time. Whatever decision I'd made in life  never once you disowned me even though it shattered you deep inside. I always make the same mistakes. Amongst all, he loved me in spite of who I am.

To my step mom, the 3 months you stayed while I was recuperating from my spine surgery, touched me. Then, I believed that not all step mom are demon like. They are human too, after all. With you, I learn the true meaning of sacrifice. I still build a thin barrier to protect my pride and prejudices. Mama, I appreciate all your generosity. And I'm in debt for life.

To my sister, the one and only.  You are an understanding and considerate person. I thank you for the support you extended in crucial moment.

And above all,...ALLAHU AKBAR ALLAHU AKBAR ALLAHU AKBAR whom without him I won't be here.

Happy Birthday to me.

Happy 9th Birthday Shakiel.

It's May 20th and today Shakiel turns 9.  I had the usual arrangement to celebrate his birthday at his religious class tonight. Just a simple ocassion.

An office colleague of mine baked the cake. The cake is layered inside with the colors of rainbow and the exterior is to duplicate a racing track. I think it was well done and beats the excessive priced fondant cake from Secret Recipe. Thank you Aniza.  I will be back to order another cake in July!

Shakiel, all grown up. Happy birthday. Mummy loves you.

An Unusual Day at the Airport.

Hey there!

Such an unusual day today at the airport. Was there to welcome back my father in law and relatives from their 'Umrah' pilgrimage.

Shakiel struck a gold mine. He received several gifts from relatives who were also waiting at the airport. It is his birthday tomorrow, May 20th. He was so excited.

Met an old college mate, whom I last saw in 1998. I hardly could recognize him. We called him 'Mabut' back then. No longer the skinny frizzy hair Mabut. Could not belief it was him....My jaw dropped and I could only utter 'Oh my God and Oh my God'.....

Then, my hubby's ex colleague when they were working with the bank. He still is. Also an acquaintance of mine.We last saw him at our wedding in 1998.

Wow...too much excitement for one day!

At the airport.

http://www.cityofenglewood.org/images/VOTE.JPG

Sunday, 05-May-2013.

It's election time and I am looking forward exercising my rights as a mature citizen. This will be the third time I cast my vote in 15 years.

Remember your vote counts so go out and vote wisely. We want a leader who can form and lead a government which is beneficial especially for our children's future.

It's all about trial and error

Shakira has grown so tall. She is not the putsy little girl I used to know. She loves to draw and she developed the talent by herself. She is neither Picasso nor Van Gogh but without any form of art training, I have to command her initiatives. Her drawing skills has improved tremendously over the years. I think she finds solace in her drawings. Only an artist understands his art.....well, I just made that up. She will always carry around her note pad and pencil. She would sketch or jot down her ideas. At 11 she is almost 5 feet tall and doesn't any longer want to hold my hand while crossing the road. Whenever I extended my hand to her, she would fold her arms. Is it not cool to hold hands with her old mom? Or am I just being over sensitive?

Hence, I find solace in Shakiel. Being 9 years of age, he is generous and willing to give a helping hand. Sometimes I do feel save knowing him there. He would stop and extend his hands, "Mummy hold my hand", when crossing the drain. I will normally reply, " It's alright, I am fine.". Very talkative and affectionate. There were times he felt frustrated not being the good artist like his sister. He tried but the best he could come up with are stick-man. His handwriting has improved. He often received negetive comments from all his teaches last year on his handwriting.

I still tucked them to bed daily.

Funny, isn't it? Children are like experiment. It's all about trial and error.

Should I be ashamed of myself?

I must admit it is not easy. Quit smoking, I mean. The temptation is always there. Everyday. Sometimes I manage to over power it sometimes I failed.

It is not easy ya know, when it has rule your life for more than 20 years, and it has flow in your blood stream, and circulating in every organs in my body.

I have to give credit to myself and my will power but I am only human. 2 nights ago,..I treated myself with one cigarette. Hubby was not delighted about it and I had to respect him for that. I stepped off the bed and finshed my cigarette in the bathroom.

Should I be ashamed of myself?
