Soccer Boots Just Like Neymar's

Shakiel wrote this one night after a fail negotiation. He agreed to study hard and get good grades so that I will buy him a pair of soccer boots just like Neymar's. Hmmmm.....tried to reason with him that first of all it is expensive and secondly it may only come in adult's sizes. How does the boots looks like?

Nike HYPERVENOM Phantom FG Men's Firm-Ground Soccer Cleat $225

USD225 buckaroooosss.....approximately MYR710.00. Fuyoo....hmmm belajarla rajin-rajin Shakiel....rambut yang sudah menipis di kepala mummy akan nipis lagi kalau he really proved himself. Koyak. However, I did not promise that he will get his way. I just replied,...tengokla dulu....(jawapan selamat).

Nasi Kandar Yassem Chow Kit Road

It's been a while since I had Nasi Kandar. Jadi malam of 3rd Raya spontaneously I decided lets go and eat Nasi Kandar. And we headed to Yassem in Chow Kit Road. You know what I always thought the shop was called Nasi Kandar Yassin but in actual fact it is Yassem!

Bukan Penang je ada Nasi Kandar Beratur,...sini pun ada jugak and it was 10:45 pm when we started to queue. I took these pictures from where I was standing.
There were about 15 people a head of us.......

.......And 10 more behind us....

The damage?.......Not so bad la supper for 4.

Kalau nasi kandar my choice of lauk will be sayur taugeh, limpa and kuah kasi banjir. As a side order, mesti ada fresh cili hijau and kuah extra. Complete and yum....Kalau tak ada taugeh, kobis pun okay la...and kalau limpa tak ada I will go for ikan bawal or tenggiri. Chicken? No. You don't eat ayam with nasi kandar....full stop.

My top 3 pick for nasi kandar is,

1) Ibrahimsha in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman
2)  Yassem in Chow Kit Road
3) ZnK in Jalan Sultan Petaling Jaya

Itu saja....lain lain tak mau try.

Laksa for open house

I was surprised that my sister requested I prepare 'kuah assam laksa' for her open house. Just the kuah she said, the rest she will prepare herself. She said she will even pay for it......

It's not all about being paid but frankly speaking I was a bit lazy to cook. Seriously memang malas masak sejak akhir2 ni. Damn lazy........but for her sake I agreed.

Unfortunately it turn out that her open house happened to fall on the same day with my FIL's open house in Ampang. They served 2 whole roasted lamb, I heard. In order to be fair, I suggested we split into two; the girls will go to Sheri's house and the guys will go to Ampang. And that's what we did. Anyway I had to go to Sheri's since I prepared the assam laksa and my mom was still in town.

Saturday morning I went around looking for the laksa ingredients. Got everything I need except bunga kantan. OMG susahnya nak dapatkan bunga kantan. A few of my local grocer cakap they do not want to get them from pasar borong because of the skinny size and it was costly at RM4.00 to RM4.50 a piece. Wow!

Tak boleh jadi, bunga kantan is a must when you prepare assam laksa. Pasaraya Millinium was my last stop because kalau tak ada kat sini memang I will cook without bunga kantan. I do not want to waste time driving all the way to TESCO looking for it. It is a waste of time and will delay my cooking time. Tapi kalau niat kita baik memang Tuhan tu tunjukkan kepada kita. Alhamdulillah walaupun kurus keding I beli jugak at Millinium. Price was steep RM3.90 a piece and I grabbed the last 2 pieces on the rack. I went around to the butcher's section and asked if they have more,....no they don't. It's ok at least I dah dapat 2 pieces.

 Bunga Kantan or Ginger Torch

Aisey,...then I was short of cash pulak and was only able to pay for one piece. Desperate time requires desperate measures. I told the cashier I will pay for one piece and please hold on to the other. I need to go back and get some cash and will be back in 15 minutes time. As promised I returned to pay for the second piece of bunga kantan.

Once home, I get started on the assam laksa and by 12:30 pm I am done. Later in the evening Miss Cockroach and I left for Sheri's house.

Makan-makan time started and the assam laksa was a hit. Praise after praise and it made me blushed....hihihi...Obviously they enjoyed every spoon full of my assam laksa!

Wanita July 2004

I was queuing up at my local grocer and flipping through some magazines on the rack and the cover of Wanita caught my eyes. I said to myself, Eh, looks like Sheri la.....I pulled the magazine out and surprised it was 'Sayang'. Sayang is what she is more know among our family. Her real name is Nina Juren and she is my cousin.

Wanita July 2014

Jangan terkejut sebab dalam family ni ada yang muka macam pecah rumah,...that's me. My sister inherited a similar feature to Sayang because they got it from my late mom's side of the family. How are we related? Well, my late mom and Sayang's father are brother's and sister's.

Read the article in the magazine and bought it untuk simpan sebagai kenangan. We acknowledge each others presence but not closed enough to rub shoulders and share gossips....the same goes my relationship with the rest of the clan, biasa-biasa saja. The distance arise soon after my mom's passing, the relationship just drifted apart. I would normally meet this side of the family whenever I was invited to aunty Zali's house on her Raya open house. Sayang memang a humble person and a couple of years ago she called me and invited to her house for a Raya open house which I did not attend. Rasa kami bezanya macam bumi dan langit. Maybe perasaan I saja.

So she is returning to the blue screen after a long break whereas my sister will start with her Ph D courses soon. Yeap, we're gonna have a Doctor in the family...woo hoo. Not a medical doctor pun tak pe doctor falsafah pun ok jugak apa..... As for mois,....C'est la vie.....

Have a Safe Trip!

So raya akan menjelma 2 hari lagi. Rata-rata about 1 million people will be on the road at one time. Ramai yang sudah start their journey balik kampung since last night. Jadi berhati-hati di jalan raya. Banyakkan berzikir supaya perjalanan anda selamat.

Tahun ini seperti tahun-tahun yang lalu, destinasi perjalanan kami same je. Tak ada apa yang menarik. Dah tua-tua ni its more like a kewajipan rather than enjoyment. My feelings towards raya this year? Macam hari-hari biasa saja. Cuma pakai baju kurung baru yang hanya di tempah setahun sekali. So you can imagine berapa helai baju kurung I ada dalam closet! I am not a baju kurung person.

Anyway, this year my sister will be back early to kampung and mom plans to prepare soto. Hmmm....dalam hati I, ish macam tak best je?....I hesitated but she's d boss.....Sheri said she will also prepare nasi arab with ayam masak merah and jelatah (consist of sliced bawang, pineapple and cucumber in white vinegar). Okay....so what's my contribution? Happy to say, I made my mini fruit tarts. It wasn't much. First come first serve basis.....all 80 pieces, habis.....M E L E T O P !!! Looks like this.

I practiced once, a week before Raya and on Raya day I presented my creation. Cute kan?

1st Raya went smoothly. After Raya prayers we all went to my dad's grave. After reciting surah Yassin, we return home to accept guests mainly consist of my late father's side of the family. By late noon we were all beat up  and took a nap. Nasib baik tak ada orang datang because it would be embarrassing to entertain guest half awake.

2nd Raya we were off to Klang to my Mak Lang's house. Getting pass the security guard at her housing complex was such an arduous task. I've said it once and I'll say it again, rumah perdana menteri pun tak susah nak masuk macam ni. Sorry but dekat 15 minutes waiting for the guards to verify information before providing us with a pass card to get in. Agaknya banyak menteri-menteri kot yang tinggal kat sini....Mulut tak ada lesen. Anyways, it has always been this way with my parents. Kami akan beraya di Parit dulu and 2nd raya baru balik Klang. When we arrived, lunch was served and we were stuffed. Nenek is still the same but alhamdulillah she still recognizes us.

This year we did not make it to Port Dickson and Melaka so we decided to go back home to Puchong. It was tiring and relieve I get to sleep in my own bed.

So that was my Raya. Nothing special just ordinary plain Jane.

Work life balance? I think not!

I have not been writing and posting since mid July and tangan ni memang gatal nak menaip something. I have been silent due to my work commitment. It was and still is over whelming. Last 2 weeks I was authorized to work from home for 3 days to clear backlogs belonging to supervisor's in  my team. This will eliminate incoming distractions at work. Maklumla, 10 minit buat kerja bersembang nya lebih. Nanti ada pulak staff yang datang tanya ni, tanya tu...then meeting tu, meeting ni....so banyak hal nak layan.

I have several postings in draft and do not have the opportunity yet to prove read them.

Everyday is a challenge for me. Work from 9 to 5:30 pm. Reached home switched on to mom and maid apron. Prepare dinner. Than after dinner locked on again to my computer and finished work around 1-2 am. Kalau weekend there are times I am glued to my seat until 4 am. Sad kan? Where's my work life balance? When do I change to my wife apron?....In between, hahaha itu tak perlu cerita ya!

I have pictures I wanna share and it's all captured in my new mobile ASUS Zen 5. Yay! finally after a long wait I manage to get a replacement for my Blackberry. Blackberry gave my problems with its touchscreen....menyampah! However, some functions are still operational perhaps need to send for servicing and repairs. We'll see how it goes. Why Asus mobile? Haaaa itu pun ada cerita di sebaliknya. Tungguuuuuu.....

So today I will try to complete one posting for my own satisfaction. Perhaps malam nanti ada la tu.
