Penang - Day One and Day 2 in search of satisfaction...

It was tiring walking...but we were determined. To start our search we need to find a parking spot which we did....dropped by a wholesalers shop and bluntly asked where could I purchase the parking coupon. The lady said she has some....of after paying RM8 for a set of booklet....we are all set.

When you travel in town you will need this....display parking coupon. Their parking enforcement are very pro-active.
As I have share murals by Lithuanian artist, Ernest Zacharevic, the followings are also interesting mural works by local artist.

Fascinating, isn't?

After spending almost two and a half hours looking for the murals we headed for lunch, Deen Maju.

Penang - Day One and Day Two, in search of Ernest Zacharevic.

After I failed my attempt to acquire all 7 wall murals by Ernest Zacharevic in Ipoh, I managed to complete the following original mural by the artist himself in Penang. However, one mural work (Broken Heart) was vandalized and is no longer in existence whereas 2 pieces (A Boy and his pet Dinosaur and Children on the Boat) was damaged by the weather (so I decided not to pursue).

Originally there was no specific names given to the mural works.....the present names were created as what was depicted in the art. The below are all works done by Zacharevic...

Girl by the Sea on North Beach (just behind Leong Yin Kean Mansion) - It depicts a pensive-looking girl looking out to the sea while holding a deflated balloon (well, what do you expect after almost 3 years obviously the balloon is no longer in view). This is the closest I dare to go to snap the photo. There was an on going construction right next to where I was standing.
Little children on a Bike on Armenian Street. It depicts a little girl taking her younger brother on a bicycle ride.
Reaching Up on Cannon Street - The mural depicts a little boy reaching for a hole in the wall. He appeared to be standing on a chair and inching himself as high as he could reach. The once an empty back alley now turned into a small cafe just right next to it. Look at that unhappy face....must be torturous for him.....
The Girl in Blue - Muntri Street. The mural shows of a little girl lifting herself up on both hands as she is perched over the two windows.
The Äwaiting Trishaw Peddler on Penang Road - The mural depicts an elderly trishaw paddler sitting in the vehicle, probably waiting for customers. It is a fitting tribute to the triashaw paddlers who congregate at the trishaw station accross the road. The Awaiting Trishaw Peddler mural is probably the largest of the murals painted by Zachrevic in George Town, Penang.
Broken Heart on Lovers Lane - Missing piece. The art piece was vandalized by irresponsible individual. Hence, the local authorities decided to remove it. Below is how it is supposed to be....
Where the original work was located.

Boy on a Bike on Ah Quee Street - It shows a boy (carrying an old lady) on his bike as he watches the pedestrian traffic passing by along the street. This mural is situated next to another Zacharevic's 'A Boy with his pet Dinasor'  which has been damage by weather. In fact, we did not notice at all of the mentioned mural.....
There were a few others by local artists which I will share in my next posting. This page is solely on Ernest Zacharevic's wall mural in Penang. He also collaborate with another artist, an Argentian for The Girl on a Turtle. It is located on Chulia Street.

Come away with me...

After travelling on the road for 5 hours we finally reach to our destination, Penang.
A sight of Penang...full of fond memories growing up here. On the 13th floor of The Gurney Resorts and Residence....may all my wishes come true,...insya Allah.

Yes, I love Penang.

Not only for the food but more close to my heart,....freedom and good memories.

I love my 3 years stay in Penang while completing my Lower and Upper Six Years.

Could be the air that I breath.....better and fresher....Call me silly old cow.....hahahaaa

I feel like home.  I think I did a lot of growing up during those years.

Abah was transferred to Penang and decided to take the whole family with him. I applauded to that decision. Mom will still be in KL until her transfer was finalized. Dad frequently work late and both of us, Shera and Sheri managed ourselves. There was the new school, again,.....meet new friends, again......and adjusting to new life style...

I don't want to sound selfish because I know how my dad must have felt the same.....

Abah never complain what we prepared for dinner, be it pizza with mushroom soup or rice, assam pedas and omelette.....He never complaint....hahahaha.....
